A friend of mine has a 1996 Taurus sedan that is experiencing a problem when the steering wheel is at full lock. When it is on full lock in either direction there is a clicking noise that can be heard.
A mechanic told him that it was a problem with all Taurus's of that year and was normal. He thinks the mechanic might have mentioned something about a valve being actuated when the steering is on full lock. Details are kinda sketchy. Any insight or previous knowledge about this sort of thing???
I've always heard that it's not good to hold a steering wheel at full lock for an unecessary length of time. Perhaps the clicking sound is just a relief valve dumping the fluid back to the reservoir?
