I am working on a friends truck and it has a stumble and a pop under load. Doesnt happen all the time. I have already replaced the plugs and wires with new motor craft parts. Anything out there that may be of help I would appriciate it. Its a 2001 F-150 4.2 v-6. It also has a new fuel filter as well. Automatic 4x2. I didnt know if there was a bulletin or updated calibration to fix this or maybe the coil is shorting out. The plugs on the 1&3 cylinders were carbon tracked last time they were replaced. Also the CEL does not come on and the scan tool that I have doesnt allow me to view misfire data.
Pop as in fuel igniting in the exhaust? That would tell me either the cylinder isn't firing or has too much fuel in it. A rich/not igniting cylinder's exhaust port should be colder than the rest. If you have a IR thermometer you can read the temps, or you can spray water on the manifold and the cooler ones shouldn't steam as quickly.
