4wd Low/ Transfer case problem

Long story short, ton of snow in Ohio and used the 4wd low on my 2000 X v10(126,000 mi) for the first time in a year. Left it(by mistake) in 4wd low overnight and now it wont switch back to 2wd. The switch doesn't make a noise and no 4wd lights on dash ( the overdrive light does flash if I drive it). Read this forum and checked fuses(fine) and bought a new transfer case motor. Problem is that I took the old motor off without issue, but I cant turn the shaft on the case to align with the new motor, the thing wont budge. Is there a way to manually release the 4wd so I can get it to my shop. Thanks for any help.

One suggestion is to keep pressure on the shaft while turning the front and rear wheels back and forth.

No luck moving the shaft so called the local Ford dealer. The nice lady in service said to check the relay and solenoid for the transfer case motor, but couldn't tell me where they are. I hooked up the new transfer case motor and it doesnt engage when I move the swith either so i am thinking it is in the wiring somewhere?
