When yall say noise, is it like bad/something aint right noise, or just different, to be expected noise. Does the sales rep know about all this? (i'm guessin he does)I'm counting nickels for the smflywheel and clutch as we speak. In other words, you're still happy with the install/product choice? Thanks, Jay
i love my truck since i did a smf conv, no rattles and it grips better, in 5th with a load if i laid into it i could get the clutch to slip now i can't, and my old dmf was all new and it still did it
thewellman, in normal driving there is no noise at all. But like just about every clutch out there, under certain conditions it will make a noise (not a bad noise but a noise). Like a 250 hp tractor with a 32 foot harrow behind it, if you have it in the ground and reach the end of the field, throttle down to make a turn and throttle down a litlle too much, when you get on the throttle again, you can hear the clutch make noise for just a second or two. I and everybody that I know that has gone over to a SMF loves it and would never go back to a DMF. Also once you do the swap, in the future all you have to do is resurface the flywheel and put on a new clutch, no more replacing the Dual Mass Flywheel at $400 a pop plus the clutch.
Ranger, Plow, and Helifix, thanks for the thumbs up, I figured it was just different, not like worrisome. And Plowhand, hey man I never done much harrowin, I mean I drinks a bit, but..........
Talk to rubberduck about valair. I did before I got mine and was very happy with the results. I do have more tranny noise at idle. It's definitley the tranny itself in my case. Under way, she's not bad at all. And I fully agree with plowhand, I would NEVER go back.
the noise you would be referring to would be gear clatter, torsional vibrations passed from the engine to the main shaft, rattling the gears in nuetral, a couple of things can reduce the clatter, slightly raise the idle, or install a fluid dampner.
