Shocks interchangeable between to different year Rangers.
Many of you know that I used to drive a 1988 2wd Ranger. It recently broke down and I got me a newer 1997 2wd Ranger
I had brand new (although cheap) shocks on my 88', my 97' needs new shocks. I talked to autozone and they said that the trucks were pulling up different part numbers for the shocks.
I haven't yet measured the length to see if that is the same. Would there be a difference in how much movement the shocks should prohibit?
Do you guys think I could simply move the new shocks to my newer ranger without it posing any problems?
I did a quick search for rear shocks only on NAPA's online site for both trucks, both being 2wd, and it pulled up the same rear shocks. It gives the specs for compressed length, extended length and travel. The site is www.napaonline.com. You can at least compare parts and specs there for both trucks and then decide if you want to get the parts there or somewhere else.
