quick question

I was wondering, how can you tell the difference between a 351c and others? I just bought a 1970 merc. Cougar, the guys told me it had a 351c, but I have identified that it is a 1973 motor, or at least the intake is, d3 part#, any tell tale signs of a Cleveland? I have always been a big block person so this small block stuff is new. wish they would have engraved the engine type on the motor!!!!! any help appreciated, thanx
Justin
p.s the car came stock with a Cleveland, and I know they made them in '73, but I want to identify it for sure.

quick question

If the thermostat's in the intake manifold it's a Windsor. If it's in the block it's a Cleveland.
