I'm looking for cab corner repair panels and came across some from F-100 central for $27.54 each 15.5" tall..has anyone used panels from F100 central's if so how was the fit. I was looking at mid-fifty but theirs are a lot more expensive.
For the most part all of the corners come from the same place. They are a good place to start, but be prepared to modify them to fit. Check out my gallery to see some of the fitment problems.
Sorry, I have a 55 I need to cover the tank hole I relocated my tank under the bed.
Talk to the gals at Mid Fifty. It looks like their Rear Cab Corner (p/n 7709L, $40 each) covers that area. The patch panel is smooth without the gas fill cutout and is 15" tall. (page 97 of the 2005 catalog). Measure your cab to see if that shape will cover the area. You only have to use the area of the patch that you need.
jaye, I installed the mid 50 panel, and it covered the fill hole nicly, As Jeff ststed, be prepared to spend time fitting, they are not an exact fit by any means,
I left as much of the original panel alone at the door ,where it wraps around the B pillar, the new part was a poor fit in this area,
Also ,don't be afraid to make some relief cuts to get the panel to fit better...BTW ,Haveyou seen those nifty panel alignment gizmos, for Butt joints on sheetmetal? Easy enough to make at home, wish I knew about them before starting mine..Good Luck!!
Hey MERTZ,
I went to HF today and brought 8 for $4.99, also picked up some 4 3/4 welding magnets for .99 each regularly $4 each, they have some pretty good tools. When it gets warm I plan on going to my Mother's house where I have a cab I can practice on before I try it on my current cab.
That's not a bad price for 8 gizmo's!!...So what does HF call them anyway?
I forgot to mention, and you probably already figured out,..that there is an inside tunnel on the fill area that could be a little tricky to ' seperate ' if you know what i mean ,just take your time. So ya gotta victem to tune-up your skill's on 1st eh?
Thats a real good idea, you can dial things in. 110v welder?..I found .023 wire,75/25 worked great....where are you in S.C? I've got folks in Beaufort.Good Luck!!
Keep it Fun!
If the lower portion of the corner is in good shape I would speak to someone like "reamer" about making a filler plate just to cover the gas filler hole. No sense tearing apart a good corner just to fill a hole.
