Hey yall. ive got a 385 series big block (429/460) that im building for some serious power and have a good base 97 f150 with an aging engine (270k) and think it would be pretty cool to but it in there, has anyone ever seen or heard of this being done? I also have an 01 police interceptor crown vic im considering as a candidate, either way the engine im pulling out goes into my project 56 f100. anyways if yall have heard or seen anything help would be greatly appreciated. the only thing im sure of is that the engine will fit by dimensions.
That will take quite a bit of work. Others have talked about doing it but I haven't seen any that went through with it. A good board to check is the Engine Swap forum: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum136/
Virtually everything I've "ever seen or heard" about the endless attempts to play musical chairs with motor swaps is that they're expensive nightmares, offering few benefits & guaranteeing major headaches.
Yes, we all know that if you invest enough time & money virtually any swap can be done, but most don't consider it "cool" expend so much for so little gain. Usually the results end up being merely ho-hum curiosities, if completed. The fate of many such plans is to be abandoned at considerable loss.
