You can get a reman one for about half list at auto parts stores one ebay, less of you are patient.
There was also a thread here not very long ago about rebuild kits being available for our alternator, that would be the cheapest way if you feel up to it.
I have always heard stay away from Remans on these trucks, they don't last very long at all. Don't know how truth this is but several people has told me this.

It depends on where you get it from (who remans it). I've had both bad remans and quality remans.
that all depends on the bank, I got one from http://www.alternatorparts.com/Ford_7.3,_6.0_&_6.5%20Power_Stroke_Diesel.htm, the 140Amp HD model, all in all was about 265 shipped to the door. I have been very satisfied with it. Output seems to be pretty steady at all rpm ranges, at least the needle doesn't drop down at idle like on a few high output models I tried from ebay.
I need a alternator for my 2000 f350 and I dont want to break the bank to get one can any tell me a place to find one thanks.
Another one of my School of Hard Knocks lessons, buy a new one from NAPA, unless you never travel anywhere. The advantage of NAPA is that with their lifetime warranty, they have a store nearly anywhere in the USA or Canada, where not one other chain auto parts store can claim that. I had a lifetime rebuilt from AZ, which did me a hell of a lot of good when it quit on my way to Alaska and I was out in the middle of nowhere.
I took it to the auto parts store and it was on showing like 10 or 11 amps not nearly enough.....wish I would have known b4 I went and bought a new batt for 90 bucks. You know what they say hine sights 20/20.

Hind sight is also in knowing never waste your money by buying 1 battery at a time.
