guys my truck is geting 12 mpg city and altittle highway, its a stock with a 4.6 with 60,000 miles regular cab longbed 2wd and i drvie like im 60 insted of 16, and 12 mpg is the best i can do , wut will help mpg bang for the buck mods , i love my truck but gas is killing me,
12 seems a tad low for MPG. Keep the truck tuned and the tires inflated to proper pressure for the tire. Mods are a plus and minus situation for the truck. The truck is built to particular spec., and the stock parts are just about at its' most efficient level.
Keep filters clean and the truck maintained is the best plan of action.
I assume since you're 16 you haven't seen its "better" days. Is this a decrease from when you first got it or have you always been seeing 12 mpg.
I see about 10 or 11 in my Tundra. Granted, it's got 381 hp and 401 lb ft plus 240 lbs worth of 10 ply tires and a 112lb grille guard up front but a lot of it has to do with driving. Most of my trips are really short, about a mile in distance. The only reason I drive is because often times I don't have the time to walk or it's just too dam* cold.
Do my trips resemble yours? If so, then that will most likely be it.
However, if you're looking for mods, you can do anything for better "airflow" like headers, exhaust, and CAI. You could probably start with exhaust and then CAI and then headers but you will maybe see a max of a few mpg if you can't keep your foot out of the gas. I suppose you can use the Edge module too but I am not sure if it'll give you extra gas mileage.
That is low, I did better than that with a 4wd and a 5.4L. If the tires are inflated right jack it up and see if any of the brakes are dragging or if any of the tires are wearing unevenly from a bad alignment.
In mostly city driving how you drive becomes much more important. Jackrabbit starts & charging right up to red lights will gobble up the gas.

Here in FL there's annual migrations of elderly Snowbirds that have lead feet. If you drive the way you spell, I doubt age has anything to do with your poor MPG. The best you can expect is probably no more than 14-16 MPG.
no jackrabbit starts hear im tring to save every penny lol im going to have to check tire presures even tho the tires dont look like the need air, the truck had a 60k service done befor i bought it ive only had it for a few weeks...

and im used to talking on the instant mesenger so if i misspell a word forgive me, its not that serious...
i have a 99 f150 4x4 and i only get at the best 10mpg in city.. and like 13-14 on highway... its a 4.6l i know my tires kill my gas a little but 10mpg is horrible..
12 does seem really low im driving a 4.6L with a good amunt of problems and im gettin 19/20 city see if maybe your ECU has been flash maybe your runnung in the higher RPMs
or ummmm overdrive is messed up. jsut some thing to look at.
I dont know what id do if i had a smaller V8 gettin 12mpg.
I have an 02 5.4 scab short bed with 33" tires and about 600lbs of extra dead weight and get 12-14 city and 15-17 highway. I clean the air filter every oil change, change the oil every 3-4 k and check all fluid levels and tire pressure every fill up.
You could try what I do and see if that improves your MPG. Also I drive in NJ where there arn't any hills to hurt my MPG. If ur driving steep and/or long hills that will kill your mpg. also you u said that the 60k maint was done before you got the truck can you confirm that the trans fluid was changed if it wasn't that could solve your problem for about $100.
