Nope! Theyre not, the 53 to 55's are the same. They open right next to the glove box door. The '56's are in the center of the dash. The '56 Ford cars were the same as the trucks though. I found that out recently. I have a '56 car dash I'm goin to put in my '56 truck.

Thanks guys. I don't smoke, but there is a chromed one for sale in the classifieds on this site, along with a lot of other reasonably priced '56 items. I thought i would pick it up to match my chrome glove box door, but no. I bought the tailight stuff.
