how do adjust your front doors i have a 97 F-250HD ext cab. the passenger door has hard time closing most the time you have lift up on it to close it. wondering if would easy or what ever to adjust it.
I believe the body on a 97 250HD is like those on the 96 and earlier F-series. In 97 they came out with the new F150 bodies, but the bigger trucks still had the older body style until the "Superduty" 1999. If you can feel the door move when lifted, you need new pins/bushings. You can also narrow it down to upper or lower hinge by looking for play in the pins when a friend lifts the door. You can buy the hinge pins and bushings at a parts store for @ 10 bucks, and replacing worn ones frequently will put the door back in line with the striker and closing will be smooth. The correct pins for your truck will probably be labeled for 1980 to 96 or 98. The newer body style truck pins are probably different.
most likely the hinge pins, open the door and grab it top and botton and lift up and down on it, if there is any play they need replaced. Also if this has been going on for a while the striker will probably need replaced also. The striker is the large bolt with a plastic bushing on it in the door jamb that the door closes on to. when the door is out of line from the bad hinges it will quickly damage the plastic bushing on the striker. Both are a very easy fix.
hey thanks yeh i seen that the striker was pretty worn out and there is some play in the door when you lift it what not. ill replace the pins and bushings and striker. thanks for you help.
