Has anyone installed a sound deadener mat (i.e. Dynamat) under the hood? We had six inches of snow last night and man was that engine quiet this morning!
No, but it wouldn't be hard. I used B-quiet ultimate inside my cab, and that stuff is heavy. I want to put some on the firewall too when the engine comes out. But, putting it on the hood wouldnt be hard, its like stick on chrome LOL..
I'd put it on mine if the bottom of my hood wasnt so cool looking.
If you add much weight to the hood, though, be prepared to also increase the load rating on the hood lift cylinders. At 29 degrees this morning here in Birmingham, the stock lift pistons wouldn't even hold my hood up. Every time I walked away from it to get something from the garage, I would hear the SLAM after only 5-10 seconds from letting go of it.

Your next Mod could be "custom 1 inch cut to length pvc pipe hood prop".
It will be called the "Petedad". At least your hood had the good manners not to drop on your head. My hood is not so mannerly.
Before I can use a name like the Petedad, in honor of a previous member who sold out to get a Cat, I would first have to be able to generate all the tabulated possible forces dependant on wind direction, ambient temperature, and pipe gauge...

ROTFL Too funny Pete.
I think it would be less painful to get head in the head with the hood than read through the analysis.

I think your cylinders may need to be replaced mine work great even when it is -25 outside And yes it gets that cold here even colder sometimes.

You're probably right. I'll have to check into my options....
EDIT:
I checked and for some strange reason, the two cylinders are not priced the same. Check it out. The screen shot is straight off of DirectFordParts' web site.
