I am wondering if it is possible that all the trouble I had with misfire codes could have caused the engine to run poorly enough to cause the DPFE to go bad???? Also I was wondering if there id a wat to clean the plenum(upper intake) with out removing it

Well I suppose if enough carbon & other orifice pluging debris were upchucked by the engine, during the out of tune operation, it could have stopped up the EGR valve/DPFE reference orifice & thrown it out of calibration!!!!

If your going to attempt to clean the intake side with everything in place, with some kind of spray detergent, just remember the engine & spark plugs, will have to choke down what ever is sprayed in there, then the oil & oil filter will have to deal with whatever debrs is removed & whatever cleaning chemiclas aren't consumed in the combustion process, then the remains are passed on to the O2 sensors, then the cat converter has to choke on whatever is strained through it.

So maybe choose a plastic, o2 sensor & cat converter safe, throttle body cleaner product & have at it.

Maybe consider driving it hard after the treatment, for 10 miles or so.

Choose carefully what you use & how you do it & seriously consider changing the oil & filter after the treatment & 10 mile blow it out drive!!!!

Just some thoughts for pondering.
