I have a 2006 XLT that i bought with ~51k miles in december... a month later the engine would cut out as i was driving on the highway... a new throttle body later and i was good to go. Now im at 58k miles and going strong... i hope to get over 200k out of this truck as i picked it up for a steal and anything else i'd want would cost at least twice as much...

~106,000 on our 2001.
Done all the work myself, new tranny at ~90k, RR left lower front ball joint, air compressor [the mounts were the only thing wrong w/it], rear windshield wiper isn't turning on [haven't seen how to fix that yet, have to get out and wiggle the wiper and then it works], new belts, R&R the Pitman arm or maybe it was the other pivot bushing, not much else.
The truck has been used for towing about half its milage a trailer that weighs about 4000+ pounds.
That's the reason for the new tranny, although I expect changing the valve body would have allowed it to stay in service. Did change the solenoid pack with no success.
Now the truck is used for moderate towing and on dirt roads and has been replaced fr the trip mission w/ an '09.
I feel I got my $$$ worth w/ this truck.

2001 EB 5.4 "Drive it like a Shelby you just stole"
2001 5.4 with 195,000 miles.
Just had it towed in to have the fuel pump and filter changed. Usually do this stuff myself, but broke down on a main busy hwy. To have it towed and a new pump assembly along with labor was $467 which I think was a great deal.
I've had the air ride suspension removed due to burned pump and cracked bags, So I had coil spring and shocks installed which it drives just as well for $600
I've replaced the plugs with the (E3) plugs which doesn't show any significant difference. $50 for the plugs.
Never changed the COP"s.
Had the A/C compressor changed for $375 ( bearings)
I've installed new headlights and fog lights (OEM was yellowish) $200 for both sets.
Now the left wheel bearing is going bad, both sway bar bushings, control arms need replaced so it's another $650 to replace all the suspension. But in the end, I can still tow, pull, and overall "I own it, and it's paid for. So I intend to keep it up and drive it until the wheels fall off. Then I'll buy a new set of wheels. (oh I have had to replace one of the factory wheels due to an idiot backing into one of ours and crushing it, then decided to drive off. I have leaned you can't drive them like a Buick, you have to drive them like a Shelby that you just stole.

Easy as pie
Well I had a few people tell me that it would take about 3 hours to replace the sway bar bushings and links. I knew that was BS. So i ordered the moog bushings and had the sway bar bushings changed in like 10 min. and the sway links about 20 min. I decided to change the wheel bearing on the driver side since I felt a little play in the wheel. I bought the all metal bearings this go around since they sold me the bearings in cased with plastic. During the process I noticed the ball joint on the driver control arm was worn, so now i'm waiting for the moog control arms to come in.

I have a '00 XP EB 5.4 AWD LLS with 163,000. Second owner since '03. Original owner purchased the 100k Warranty when new and I bought the XP with 52k miles and transferred the warranty.
I tow a 25' TT from time to time, and have towed a ski boat at other times. The rear differential was replaced@42k miles (warranty), the LLS compressor at 99k miles (warranty).
Now, if something breaks I fix it and count my blessings.
It's a nice vehicle and I'll have it for some time to come.
I just replaced the front airshocks and have new LLS rear airbags, they are next. I know, but I like the ride and the leveling.
This Forum has been a big help to me and have found info here that was not available anywhere else I searched, even Dealers. Plus, I enjoying reading the problems and solutions of the members, it prepares me for the 'future'.

99 Expedition
Hello all, my 99 Expedition has a 201,000 on it. It has the 5.4 and I tow my boat all over the southeast with it. The only major repair thus far, (beside normal maint) is that I had the number 8 plug blow out at 108,000. I had it repaired by a guy out west that I flew into town, At the time this was the cheapest way to repair it, Ford wanted 4000 to replace both heads that they should replace for free since this is a defect of their doing.
