I have tried to search the forum for answare to all my questions.
Most of the threads seems to give partly answares, but since I'm new to Ford, I would like to get more accurate answares.
The car in question is my 2001 Excursion, 6,8L 4x4.
1. Where can I get a complete wire diagram
2. How do I disassemble the roof console (want to pull some cables up there)
3. Is it possible to adjust the hinges on the rear side doors
4. Will the 2003 mirrors fit my doors without problem
5. Recommendations for engin oil.
6. Connectors for original fog lights. How do they connect to the main switch? It is possible to pull it out when in park position, just as for the rear fog light when in driving light position. Is it connected and ready for use, and is it connected trough a relay
7. Front head lights and signal lights. Any suggestions on new and better (not xenon) headlights, and signal lights where I can have position lights on a seperate bulb.
8. Anyone have pictures on how they mounted auxillary switces in their Excursions. I'm on my way to put them in the roof console, in the room behind the sunglass holder...
This should be it for now.. So now I leave it to you guys to help me out here
2. How do I disassemble the roof console (want to pull some cables up there)
Pull it down. It isn't secured but by metal tabs. Pull the front down first. The rear part has tabs that slide rearward into some stays.
3. Is it possible to adjust the hinges on the rear side doors
No, adjustment is done by the latch...or so I've discovered.
4. Will the 2003 mirrors fit my doors without problem?
Yes. But it depends on the mirrors. All will fit, it's just the one with signal &/or running lights will require additional wiring in your 2000
5. Recommendations for engine oil.
Motorcraft semi synthetic 5W-20 or 5W-30
6. Connectors for original fog lights. How do they connect to the main switch?
In the back. Seriously, I don't know...expand your question a bit. [quote]It is possible to pull it out when in park position, just as for the rear fog light when in driving light position. [quote] Not on a 2000. You can upgrade to a newer switch or do the jumper wire mod. It is deep in the Super Duty forum. Search for "fogs with parking lights".
Is it connected and ready for use, and is it connected trough a relay
Fogs lights?? I don't think they are there if the lights aren't there.
7. Front head lights and signal lights. Any suggestions on new and better (not xenon) headlights, and signal lights where I can have position lights on a separate bulb.
First.. I like 05 headlights. Almost a plug-n-play and a nice spread of light. Second...never seen that especially since the parking lights are a two wire system. If you wanted separate position lights you'd have to wire them up yourself.
8. Anyone have pictures on how they mounted auxiliary switches in their Excursions. I'm on my way to put them in the roof console, in the room behind the sunglass holder...
Doing that will require you to drop the headliner just to run wires. That'll look nice when you're done but be a PITA to do. Anytime I put in a switch I put it on the knee bolster area right below the light switch.
Welcome to FTE, Jan! Hopefully this will start as good discussion.
