Is there much difference between a New Process and a Borg Warner transfer case?

It depends on what the intended use.

New Process 203 - Gear driven full time 4wd - 70's only
New Process 205 - Gear driven part time 4wd - 70's
New Process 208 - Chain driven part time 4wd - early 80's

Borg Warner 1345 - Chain driven part time 4wd - early 80's
Borg Warner 1356 - Chain driven part time 4wd - late 80's/90's

Thats alot of difference. Those gear driven ones must have been pretty tough hey.

That is a very cheap 4x4 though, rusty or not.

Some are stronger than others but they all can be made to break.

That`s Nathan`s area of expertise as I`ve never had any transfer case problems in any of my previous Fords, guess we wait....

Yeah I have never used and abused a 4x4 enough to have problems ever myself either.

The gear ones are stronger but they are also twice as heavy as the newer ones.

Wouldbe perfect in some applications then. Some of those older trucks weigh a ton anyways!
