hey im new to all this and dont want to step on anyones toes so give me some time to get the hang of this. i know this topic has been covered several times on here but cant quite find the right info i need at the moment. i have a 70 f250 4x4 that came with a 360 np 435 and pretty sure a divorced 205. (correct me if im wrong) i have a built 460 sitting in my shop and all i lack is headers carb and dist. my problem is so many options i dont know what is the best way to go so any help would be appreciated
the 460 i am putting in my 70 highboy has a front sump pan will it clear my front crossmember. the guys at l and l say it will just wondering if anyone had any input
thanks i figured it would be ok just wanted to be sure i have ran into so many issues one this project should have stuck with the 360. would you know the best place to get headers without breaking the bank
I just swapped a 460 into a '72. It's a 4X2 that I converted to 4X4 so the motor mount/perch situation is a little different than what you would experience. The headers I used were some that were donated to the cause by another member. I believe they were indeed for a later 460 truck and were a perfect fit.
Here's a page from Summit that has headers that should fit this application. All pretty pricey, but with some research you should be able to get the price down:
I did the exact same that you are doing and after buying three different styles of headers I found some L&L shorty headers on http://broncograveyard.com/ for $450.00 They are really nice. The flange is 1/2 inch thick! I liked the fender well style headers but my steering ended up being in the way.
thanks for all the help guys this place is a whole lot better than some of those other sites maybe its just the chevy guys. but sice the 460 never came in a 4wd drive in the 70s would the headers for a 4x2 work
