Cam phaser replacement
Bought a 05 F250 FX4 Lariat SC 5.4 about 2 months ago. Turns out it has the cam phaser issue. Bought the truck from a non-ford dealer and they agreed to have it reparied by a ford dealer of my choice under warranty. (the dealers warranty as the truck has 90k miles).
I shopped around to get prices and find out which dealer was most likely to get the job right. I found quite a difference in prices, from $800 to $1250.
Some of the price difference is due to the most expensive quote including replacing all 24 lash adjusters(?). Right now I'm going to have the dealer which quoted me the highest price do the job because their mechanic seems the most competent to do the job.
Anyone who has had this done remember how much it cost, and is there anything else they should look at while they are in there?
