Fuel system?

L6 4.9 FI 300 F-150. 3 years ago the fuel gauge stopped working in the front tank, no big deal.

About (4) months ago the engine would jerk about one a week, like I needed to switch tanks while driving. The fuel levels would be good, just an irritation for no known reason. Then (2) months ago the check engine light came on and it was an oxygen sensor, put in RXP and all was well, happened again so ended up replacing the front Catalytic Convertor. During this time the engine was still jerking but now it was difficult to start on some mornings.

The electrical systems seemed to make all the correct noises like switches and pumps taking hold but no fuel to engine. On days it took several minutes of just turning the ignition on and off to get fuel to the engine, never had starting problems the rest of the day. Engine light came on again and reads fuel mixture lean possible vacuum leak, hoses seem ok. So had fuel pump relay replaced. Drove truck home and jerked like heck (4) times in a five mile drive. Called the mechanic and was told he did not know what else to do! Any suggestions please?

Thank you,

Morgan

I didn't see it mentioned in your post, when's the last time you changed the fuel filter? A clogged up filter could certainly cause all the symptoms you're describing.
