U-Joint Question
I bought a u-joint to replace the driveshaft to axle u-joint in my wife's 1991 Explorer with the 4.0 and M5R1 a couple of weeks ago and found that it did not fit. It was a serviceable unit from NAPA and it fit in the drive shaft but it was to wide to fit in the axle flange. The spider is the same size as the one I removed, but the bearing cups are taller. The people at NAPA say that it is the only one listed for the vehicle.
I have tried several other auto parts stores and everyone shows me the same damn thing. Is there anyone that has replaced this u-joint and could tell me a part number for a u-joint that will fit?

Take the old spider assembly down and have them measure it. You can get spiders in all kinds of configurations/ cup sizes. Takes more time than just looking it up in a book, so go to a GOOD full line parts supplier.
