stiff manual shift
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-Dec-01 AT 00:42 AM (EST)]I just purchased a 2000 F-150 SWB with 4.2L and 5 speed manual. Truck has 30K. All seems well, except!
I normally shift into neutral at a stoplight and take my foot off the clutch. I notice that when I then try to shift back into first or second, after having been in neutral, it's very stiff and hard to do so! Even easing the clutch out slowly doesn't seem to help. However, truck shifts fine while in motion, and slips easily into second or first so long as I do so before it's quite stopped rolling.
Anyone else notice this, or have a suggestion? I did just change the tranny fluid, which seemed to help a bit. I also noticed about 1/4 teaspoon of metal shavings on the magnetic plug when I drained the tranny. Normal break-in wear or????
