No visible throttle plate, but still an actuator?
Went to do my egr unhook and throttle plate removal today. Took off the upper boot and there is no visible throttle plate (the photos in the instructions show a fraction of the plate extending up into the elbow). Took a curved screwdriver and swung it around in the lower half of the elbow and nothing there. There is, however, still a throttle body actuator right there at the elbow. I haven't taken apart the upper housing yet to see if something is in there and stuck in the down position.
If the throttle body is missing, will the actuator still be there?

Sounds like someone may have gotten to it before you did. They sometimes leave the actuator plugged in to prevent the truck from throwing a code. Really you need to pull the upper piece off like you said.

What year and build date is truck, early 04? Are there any pins inside the plugs when you unplug them. This is interesting as I have been told that if there is no plate then there would be no pins in the plug-ins. Like was said earlier you probably need to remove the elbow to see for sure.
