I have to pick up a truck camper in the AM and I've been wrestling with my tailgate all day. The top pivot plate bolts come out OK but the lowers are a real b***h. They have red thread seal in them but I can't get close w/heat. I'm close to the point of stripping the torx hole and am considering air hammering them. Seems too close for a sawsall too.
You shouldn't need to remove and bolts, on side of the tail gate has a u shaped cup that is open on the inside, open your tailgate half way and you should be able to just pull it straight up off one side then the other side will slide out sideways.
Oh, uh, never mind. I figured it out all by myself!
I'd really have to be a dufuss to screw around all day when the answer is in both the crappy owner's manual and the crappy little tech manual I have.
Seriously, thank you.
Stuff I'm mad at:
-myself
-the owner's manual for convincing me that it had nothing of value in it then coldcocking me
-me
-everyone on here because none of you were stupid enough to have this problem so a search yielded nothing
-I
The only thing I can say is that I wish I was there to watch you fool with it all day. Would have been histerical. HAHAHA. I am sure we have all been there at some point. Overlooking the obvious.
