94 F250 engine

I have a '94 F250 4X4 auto w/460 its blown and wondering about replacing it with a 302 or 351. What difficulties will I run into? bellhousing , etc.
Thanks for help!

The windsor family and I6 share the same small block bellhousing, so you'll need a different tranny if you go this route, as well as a computer to match the engine. The 4.9 I6 and 5.8 are decent truck motors, but whatever you do don't put a 302 in there. Why not rebuild the 460 or swap in another longblock?

After doing a little more searching and reading, that's probably the best thing to do. I wanted to improve mileage, but doesn't sound like it will.

The mileage difference between a 460 and a 351 is not that big and the 460 has a good deal more power. My dad has a 97 F250HD with the 460, E4OD, and 4.10s, it will get about between 13 and 14 highway at 60 to 70 MPH. My 94 F250HD with the 351, C6, and 4.10s has never gotten better than 13.5 highway at 55 MPH. My guess is that if it had overdrive it would get between 13 and 15 at 60 to 70. Keep the 460, the power is worth it.
