I have a newer truck that the finish isnt that glossy anymore even after a wax. Can I use a polisher and some of that liquid polish or is that only for cars that have been color sanded. I dont want to mess up the clear coat if it has one.
If it's already dull with wax more than likely it's a 1 coat system. If a 2 coat it has problems. It may be worth shooting some clear coat over what you have. Once you get into the base you have to do a total repaint. Color sanding is for those who can't spray a glossy clear coat, or for those who want very high end paint work. I think what you have run into may be some of the water based paints showing that their not as durable as the original.
Personally I do not like color sanding or body work in general. Your just removing top coat that will be needed for long life. Spraying the paint is the fun part for me.
If you want to try it, get the highest grade polish grit 4000+ would be nice. But since I don't wet sand/polish I do not know what the finest grit is.
