I am relocating my family across country and we are going to be driving. I want to put a cb in the truck for varios reasons. I have a shell for the back of my '92 F-150, and with the style of mirrors, I was woundering if anyone has put a cb in a similiar model and year truck, and if so how did and where did you mount the antenna? Here in Alaska we don't have much use for a cd, so no one has one to refferance.
Thanks for any help.
the body of the truck plays apart in how well your cb will get out and receive.
if antennae is at back bumper it will get out better forward of truck
if at front bumper it would receive and transmit behind u
if mounted on side mirror it would be to the opposite side of truck
the best place would be the center of cab at the back of the roof
but because of the height of the antennae it should be spring mounted
i would use a magnetic mount, that way u can remove when not in use

I don't know how good they really are -- although I was perfectly satisfied with it -- but several years ago, I had one of the adapters that splits your car antenna's cable to the car radio and the CB. It was fairly cheap when I bought it (which was why I bought it), and I wish I could find it, because I'd sure send it to you. Unfortunately, it appears to have disappeared somewhere between moves. I have a feeling, though, if you check truck stops you should be able to find one if you'd like to give one a try.
