I am about to replace the lower ball joint on my 2000 f-150 4x4. My little book does explain how to remove the balljoint. What do i need to remove from driverside to do this job? Do I need to remove tierod, axle, shock, etc.? Can I press it out? Do I have to remove entire arm to remove it? Help needed please?
David
I rented a press tool from the local Kragen and gave it a try today on my 98 F150 4wd . When I got to the lower ball joint the joint wouldn't press out of the lower A-arm. It was so tight and welded in there that I was afraid I wouldn't get it all the way out with this tool and be stuck . Or not able to get the new one in with the tool.
Hope yu have better luck than I did.
Removed the ball joints. Bought a press but it would not push the joint out. Used a hammer and a piece of brass and drove it out. other than that the job went smooth. the only other factor was the 10 inches of snow I was sitting in to change them. The web link and pictures really helped. thanks
