Installing NAV Radio

I'm trying to install a replacement radio. I cant seem to figure out how to remove the center dash face, the one that surounds the radio. I've removed the two 7mm screws under the lighter and line-in panels, which allow you to lift the dash face from the lower edge. But there is still some attachment at the top that I cannot see. I don't want to force it too hard without knowing what I'm dealing with. Anyone been through this, or have any experience. Truck is an F350 Lariat Super Crew. Thanks in advance!

You are asking your question in the wrong forum, there is an audio, etc forum here on Ford Truck Enthusiasts.

There is a link there in the tech folder but it no longer works.

Good luck,

Bob

I just went through the same thing last week when I was running my GPS wire and radar detector wire through the dash. I had to take off the center panel around the radio then take out the radio. First I took out every screw I could find. I even took out the cigar lighter and Aux. plug in. I was like you, I didn't want to break anything. Turns out I didn't have to go that far. The panel is held in place by plastic fasteners that snap in and come out fairly easy with some pressure. There are two along the bottom of the panel that I gingerly popped out first. If you go to the center of the panel they are about 2-3 inches from the center an inch or so up. Then I ran my hand along the sides until I popped out the ones on top. I think there were three along the top. If I remember correctly there were no fasteners along the sides of the panel. Just take your time, I didn't feel like I was ever anywhere near breaking the fasteners. When you put it back together put the two on the bottom back in first. That worked for me.

Thanks! I actually “discovered” this method last night. From searching around on the web, I’d about figured out that there were only two screws (at the bottom) holding this thing on. After removing those again, I slid my hands up under the bezel on either side and it just popped right off. As much trouble as I had with it originally, I’m embarrassed at how easy it came off. Thanks again!

I just knew from experience on my '05 that all you had to do is pull in the correct places. I don't blame you for being cautious. One wrong move and you will be paying Ford $300 for a new piece of plastic.

The procedure varies depending on the year of the truck.

Here is the procedure for a 2005-2007:
