400M in 68F250?
I'm been looking for a 390 block for my 68 F250(360) w/little luck. Everyone seems to call the 360 a 390, until I measure the stroke. I have a complete 400m sitting in my yard. It came out of a 78 LTD. My silly question is what would it take to drop the 400 in my truck. And would that be a good idea. I have a C-6 in the truck now. I don't even recall what's behind the 400. It is complete,w/ only 37,000 original miles. I cut the exhaust pipes and took the front end off and pull the entire thing about 3 years ago. I was told the motor mounts and trans mounts have to be changed. Is this a worthy task to tackle and what would I need. Any welding? Should I just continue the search.
Thankx for the help.

I'm not an FE guy but I'm pretty sure that the 360 and 390 share the same block. I believe all that needs to be done is swap the rotating assembly (crank, rods & pistons) and a 360 becomes a 390. You might want to check in on the FE series forum to verify that.
As far as the 400 going into the truck you will definitely need to swap the tranny. FE C6s don't have the same bolt pattern as the 351M/400/429/460 C6s.
