My 79 Ford F150 has a 351M and its running ruff, Its hard to start when its cold. and doesnt seem to have the power that is did before. Put still runs. I changed the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Any tips?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Feb-02 AT 09:36 PM (EST)]The next (cheapest) thing that I would check, is the screw-in fuel filter attached to the carb. On these old trucks, rust can clog them pretty quickly.
EDIT: OK, I noticed you have a 79 (with a catalytic converter). If this was clogging up, it would cause the symptoms you describe.
my 351C was runnin rough and i changed the plugs, leads, cap AND fixed a vacuum leak... but what actually fixed it was a new ignition coil, now it runs perfectly.
to the left of the carb on the intake manifold of my 1979 F150 (351M)there is a plate the bolts to the intake that goes to the EGR valve and also the choke line coil through the plate as well. Mine a rottet out, and the motor runs very ruff. So here I am, I know what the problem is, I took the old part and the part store dident know what is is and dident bilieve me whene I told there where is goes on the truck, I went to a ford dealership and they told me that the part is out of production and I have to find a aftermarked part. I called every part store in the phone book and knowbody had any idea what I was talking about considering that I dont know what the part is. But I do have a part number (DSAZ9C869A) If anyone could help me I would be very gratfull.
