the state farm that i have been with for 20+years said no way would not insure But I have three other companys to go with cheapest was 1230.00 a year so for
Two things: I'd be looking for another agent secondly i would check with farm bureau. They insure all sorts of heavy farm trucks. If state farm would not insure you, company wide they wouldn't take my truck and some others on this thread. Find another agent.
There are a number of insurance companies that consider an insured vehicle or personal vehicle to be one with a GVW(R) of 10,000 pounds or less. Those same companies will sometimes write a policy for a F250, F350, etc without realizing or caring about the weight rating. That is why "techninically" an F250 is an insured vehicle and an F350 isn't (on some policies), and that an F350 with the 10,000 lbs package will qualify, but an F350 typically will have a higher GVW(R) than 10,000 lbs.
What probably happened was the area manager got after an agent or something and now he knows that technically he's not supposed to be writing F350 or F450 (whatever that company's policy is).
BTW, this isn't a guess, hypothetical, or anything else. I've worked for at least two insurance companies that have a weight rating as part of the definition of a vehicle. The companies write policies everyday/all day for vehicles that don't technically qualify though (and they are covered if you have the policy, they just should have "technically" been written).
