Ford Dying

on ice or snow, if i lock up the wheels to stop, the transmission locks up and kills the engion. makes a big noise and then locks it and dies. engion is new, transmission performs like new. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
truck is 1990 ford f150 with a 5.0

the trans does not really perform like new if it does that.

i will guess you have an auto.

i think the torque convertor is the culprit.

any codes?

check the codes, they do not always blink the dash light.

fluid level?

why are you locking up the wheels when you stop?

if theres ice on the ground and i have to stop, then i lock up the wheels. it shouldn't kill the engion: it also does it in nuetral. and when the roads are clear and and i go to slow down it has some trouble shifting down.
one of my friends said it could be the lock up switch but, i don't know if i have one or where to find it.
really sucks during the winter and the converter is fine because i had it out and inspected.
