MAN, Im sure you know im working on my 69 rusty, been going back and forth trying to decide whether to repair my severely rusted cab, or get a parts truck, this truck i just found doesnt make it any easier its got all the parts i need, door and fender chrome, bed floor, cab floor, cab mounts inner fenders, core support, all of it, some rust on outer body, brakes are shot, but its cheap enough, oh and its a 67, would it be sacreligious to chop up a restoreable 67 long bed, for parts for my 69 shorty (long beds are for workin' shortys are for playin) i want my short bed. What do you think? you could tell me to repair the cab, but the floors are all the way gone the cab mounts are all the way gone, it is starting to rust out above the firewall seam as well, i dont even know what Id weld new metal too. What should I do?
If everything is shot besides the body and body parts, I'd use them on the "shorty", if that is the one you prefer anyway. You could always make a trailer out of the long bed whenever you scavange all the parts you need for your project.

long bed is the only way to go in my opinion. i cant stand a shortbed, i would want to shoot myself in the foot. and i'm all about playin, i haul bikes around in mine. someday you'll need to carry a bunch of crap and then be like "arrrrghh stupid shortbed" but i guess a good thing would be less people asking you to help them move! lol

I have no time for a short-bed.....now don't get me wrong--there are some nice ones out there, and my 56 F100 is a short bed,but I try to only buy long bed trucks all my life. I figure if both are gettin' the same mileage and cost the same--give me a long bed--so I can use it for something! Short bed trucks are for show---and long beds are for ME!!!! try to haul 3 dogs and all your camping gear in a little bed........Bill
Blue68 is right about the doors. Better do some research here as the '67 was a "one year only" for several parts. I think the window regulators are different too. Not sure about the hinges.
OK, just wanted to say if I wanted to solely use my truck for hauling, and other work, id probably buy a long bed, except it would be some late 80s or early 90s peice of crap that I didnt care about, I purchased and will enjoy immensely my 69 shortbed, i dont care about the extra 2 feet of bed space, it still has more cargo room than my 99 p71, I bought it and like it because of its classic value, my truck is getting restored basically to original, not 100 points or anything, but I definetely want the look and feel of originality, and Ill be damned if start haulin old washers and refridgerators in my beautifully restored classic, maybe grocerys or my dirtbikes, but no way am I gonna tear it up, I like bumpsides because of their historical value, I think classics are cool, Id never destroy one by using it as a work horse, id get some newer model (87-93) for that, I cringe everytime I see a classic in a junk yard, and have seriously considered writing hate mail to movie producers who destroy classics it literally makes me mad (the most recent is that exploding gt350, yeah, you know the one) if you want a work truck, its time to retire the bumpsides and get something you can tear up, leave all those beautiful bumps for people like me who can appreciate them for not only what they are but where they came from, allow us to preserve them for our children and grandchildren to enjoy. and last but not least I will definetly "show" my f100, thats my end goal, its hard for me to understand why you long bed guys cant understand my philosophy.
You can't destroy a Ford truck by using it as a workhorse, that's the purpose God intended it for.
My preference has always been long beds on this body style and also on the 73-79 body style. More people like shortbeds though so the value is always going to be higher and it will attract more attention. Build the one you want, that way you'll get the most enjoyment out of it.
I'll probably never restore mine but if I keep it in working drivable condition that's good enough for me, to keep it chugging along and keep it out of the bone crusher yard.
dang that is SHORT!!!! almost looks like about a bronco wheel base, are you sure thats stock, maybe a body swap and the bed was chopped to fit? Just a thougt, does look pretty odd though.
Yep--trucks are mean't to drive and work...I am a freak about keepin' everything I own in good shape. If you haul a washer or frig--it doesn't have too hurt the truck. Use cardboard and clean it up afterwards, and it then serves 2 purposes.
I can cruise and use -----my trucks, and I have a whole fleet.
Longbeds just seem to do more and haul more. Main purpose for a truck. I hauled plenty in a 1977 honda civic---but it aint no truck!! Short bed trucks are my favorite in the 1953-1956 era only. I also have trailers to put any crap on to haul, and never mess up my trucks and not take care of them, and I have had ALL makes. and all years.
GOOD LUCK and KEEP ON TRUCKIN'.............Bill
