Well when this question came up for my 92-96 trucks I went with Haynes. Its definitely more user friendly but what I liked about it is that it didn't leave you hanging as much as Chilton's seemed to. In the middle of a thermostat replacement job it would just tell you how to remove it and be done with you. Haynes would at least tell you not to forget that some thermostats might needs a gasket THEN leave you hanging. At that point though, you can pretty much figure out that you should put the thermostat BACK ON the truck lol
if you can't figure that out on your own then you don't need EITHER manual lol
I've heard though that Chilton's has better wiring diagrams.
That really helped with my 80-86 trucks but I doubt you will need to be doing any major rewiring or searching for bad grounds on your 04-08 truck.
When in doubt and if you have 40 bucks . . .get both!
Chilton and Haynes are very similar. I have had both manuals for different vehicles over the years and both worked well. I prefer chiltons, for some reason. I have a chilton for my 04, but haven't used it much, yet.
