New Shoes ?

I am in the market for new tires. I have mud terrains right now and love thge aggressive look to them but, I am looking at a all-terrain to try and get more mileage. I know the BFG All-terrains last a long time, but I am wondering how well the Nitto Terra Grappler AT would do. Does anybody have a set and how many miles do you normally get out of a set of them? Or is there another tire I sould look into.

I have a set of 285/75-16 Cooper ST's and really like them. They do really well in the snow, and off the road. I have 45,000 miles on them and they are just about done. All and All they are a good quality tire.

I havent seen a NITTO last worth anything. Big/little any ply, they dont last! I have had Extremely good fortune with cooper. They have a new all terrain that is supposed to be guaranteed, or rated, or whatever, for 50k. I am currently running STT 35x12.5x18 and love um. If they made that all terrain I mentioned in a 35 I would have bought it! Toyo's good, be sure to price shop online. I got 4 cooper STT's that retail at 425 each for a low 315 each all by price comparing online with local shop.

I'm running the BFGs. They'd be OK for you, being in Georgia. Up here in Wisconsin, I'll be looking for a better tire in the snow. I give the BFGs a C- in snow, B- in mud, A in rain and dry, A in noise, B+ for tread wear.

C- in snow? Wow, I thought they work great in snow, until it gets deep... then you're in M/T territory anyways. Just out of curiosity, what A/T do you like in snow Redford?

Check out tirerack.com's user feedback ratings... they have excellent comparisons. There are a coupla brands missing, but BFG, Nitto, and many others are included.

I had the BFG's A/Ts on my last truck and they will be going on this one as soon as I need tires. They always did well in the snow, the only downsides are that once the tread gets worn wet traction is somewhat subpar and they like to be rotated. I think that Redford has the BFG Rugged Trails which came on some of the newer trucks and those are not very good in the snow but do wear like iron, mine are about worn but I have 85,000 miles on them so I cant complain.

Yes, the Rugged Trail AT. They do wear like iron, but in snow....well, I'm glad it's a 4 wheel drive.

I'm cheap, so I will wear these out before I get new tires, but right now I am leaning towards the Goodyear Silent Armor MT or the BFG KM2.

Love my Nitto Terra Grapplers. I've got 35,000 miles on them now and expect another 10-15,000 out of them. I keep mine at 40psi and rotate them around 7-10,000 miles. I plan on the same tire next time around, as they have been the best tire for me.

Go with the Goodyear Silent Armor tires . I put a set on my F250 2 years ago and loved them so much that I put 'em on my other truck(F250 with slide in camper) and on wife's Ford Explorer. She loves 'em! I also plow snow with my daily driver F250, and use it offroad for hunting and firewood hauling.

I'm leaning that way (GY) but it'll be 20,000 or so miles before I spend any money, but I'm also waiting for some guys to get some miles on the KM2s to see what they think of that tire.

I got Nitto TG's and love them. Got about 20,000 on them and they will last me til at least 45,000 miles. Awsome in snow and mud.

I had the BFG Rugged Trail AT and I thought they were Junk. Like RedFord said they were like Iron, (got 55,000 miles)but are horrible in snow and mud. But if you are in the south and do almost all high way driving they would do you fine.

I have also had coopers before, they were really good too, but they didn't make them in the size I wanted. I am running 295/75/16 Nittos. $550 out the door is a great price from discount tire for that tire. They are Load D not Load E, but have not had a single problem hauling any large loads.

I too am anxious to hear what people think who try out the KM2s... my next set of tires will be MT.

Ah, Redford has the Rugged Trails. That explains it. Those things are pieces of chit IMO...

Man that is good I am plaining on Nitto Terra when I get my next tires with some new wheels as well. And I have been wandering how well they held up sounds like a damn good tire to me and less money then Toyo.
