4.0 cyl head interchange

I have a 4.0 Aerostar engine code X. I need a left cyl head. 1.Are the heads interchangeable from left to right. 2. Will any year 4.0 ohv from Ranger Explorer up until they stopped making the engine work on my engine. I had replaced my head gaskets about 3k miles ago and it looks like I now have a cracked head. Thanks.

My instinct says there is a left and right but I could be wrong

Not sure about 4.0, but I know the 3.0 left and right heads are identical. I seem to remember the guy I bought my new/rebuilt head from told me the 4.0's are the same as well.
