Question with Edge Evolution

I got my Edge 2 weeks ago and finally got time to program it to Level 2 with 87 octane. Am I suppose to Bump up the timing +1 when using 89, and +2 when using 91 octane? One more question is Level 3 (performance mode) meant for 91 octane without any adjustment with timing?

I have an unmodified 2004 F-150 5.4l 4x4 Screw with 6500 miles and around 1800-2000 feet above sea level. Just programing it to level 2 and it gave this truck the performance I was expecting when I drove it off the dealer lot 3 years ago. I expected 'get up and go' when driving off the lot. Once in awhile it would stall at a long red light. Then I had Ford fix it, they flashed the PCM and it was even more gutless ever sense. But now I find myself liking this truck again and my thoughts of ridding myself of the "past" gutless truck are now gone. I'm just worried that I am not properly informed about octane vs. timing using the Edge.

P.S. Using the 'Search' is almost worthless.

You are correct about the timing on level 2. Level 2 is meant for 87. In Level 2, if you to 89 timing goes +1, 91 +2, and so on. Level 3 is meant for 91 (or higher) so in level 3 there is no timing adjustment if you are using 91 octane. If you use 93 octane in level 3 timing goes +1. Hope this helps.

How big of an altitude change does the timing change. Meaning if im at 2000 feet at home and want to travel and I end up at sea level, will I receive ping or detonation?

How do you detect ping and detonation? If I use the lightning software to log and graph, how do I tell when pinging or detonation occurs?

Ping should be picked up on the knock count.

The MAP sensor should pick up the difference in altitude (atmospheric pressure). Going from low pressure to high pressure shouldn't hurt much in a fuel injected tune. Worst case I can think of is your going to run a bit leaner, but the o2 sensors should pick up on it and add more fuel to compensate.
