Shifter feels loose
On my 98 F-150, the shifter feels loose on the columm. Key doesn't want to turn as easy lately, have to jiggle the wheel. Came on suddenly, any you guys had this happen? Thought I would ask before I pull it apart. Stuff just feels sloppy and loose...

Had a chance to look at it tonight. Pulled the trim piece off below the cluster, pulled out the lock cylinder, pulled the 3 screws for the upper shroud, and lifted it out. Here the bushing under the shift rod had come out and slide down the rod, which caused a lot of slop in the shifter. Simply slid it back in, put a dab of Elmers behind it to keep it from working out, man, all is tight and snug again. Took about 20 minutes, may need a new bushing in the future, least I know what causes all that slop and key being hard to turn.
