running temp

Hi I havent been able to find out what the running temp of my 351m should be. Right now it runs around 170 and I thougt that seemed a little cold. And recently my oil pressure guage has been going nuts when the truck is at idle, its a new guage and im wondering if its just the guage or is something else wrong. Thanks

Mi 351m ran steady on 180 degrees while in hot traffic and 170 in the highway, so yours has a good running temp, and yeah your sending unit should be your bad piece......

170 is a little low. You want between 190-205 or so. Are these electric or mechanical gauges?

aint 205 too much? you wouldnt be able to use water on your radiator cuz hwhen off it would boil due to raise in temp when the fan goes off, besides the cooler the engine the less prone to detonation, right or not? my engione ran fine at 170-180...

3 or 4 times a year my temp gauge will show 150 or above. It will usually run below that with no problems, great heater etc....
