missing
i have a 2002 ford 150 with a 5.4L. it misses sometimes and some times it dont. it might go a week and not miss. then it might miss for the next two days. but only some of the time. it doesnot matter if it is under a load or not.

if its a coil pack the check engine light will eventually come on. it may come on and then go off or maybe flash at first but the scanner wont pick up any codes until the light comes on and stays on. until then theres not much you can do but drive it as far as i know

I have a 99 Expo that does this same exact thing, however the "Engine" light comes on and stays until I reset the codes. Also, I have heard that if the engine doesn't do the same thing after like ten starts the light goes out, though this never happens until I reset it. I have changed two of the eight coil packs in three years and think I have another going again. Does anyone know if the earlier 5.4L Tritons have a problem tossing coils every so often?
