Ignition switch

I have a 94 f150 4x4. Yesterday when I came out of the store it would not start. The key kinda went in side ways as much as it could in the slot. When I got the key out I could turn the chrome external part of the switch around a full 360'. It would not start in park. I put it in neutral and it started right up.When I got it home I could not make it repeat. it started every time I tried it. I need to figure out what is going wrong because my wife sometimes drives this thing and she would get PO'd if this happens to her.

replace the lock cylinder.

buy one at the parts store.

you need to turn the key to access. and push in pin below th lock to remove it.

disconnect battery after you are sure it is in access.

lots of posts on this.

quicklook2 is right, listen to him.

I had your same problem and a new key/lock cylinder did the trick. I have a one key ignition/door lock system so I took the new cylinder to a locksmith and had them key it to to old system before I installed it so I wouldn't have to fool around with 2 different keys all the time.
