i had an inner seal leak yesterday, thankfully i caught it in time. i have installed all of the parts correctly and all i need to do is add the gear oil. However, i cant find the plug to add it at. ive looked online and it shows it to be by the vent hose, but there isnt a plug there. does anyone know where the plug is on a 93 f350?
No problem. Remember, that's a 3/8th" square in the plug. A good 3" extention on a ratchet should be good enough. And when you put it back, only tighen it "good N' snug" don't crank on it like it's a pressurized fitting, as you'll jam it in. Ruin the square(as in my pic, someone already did) and prob crack something.
btw, I never noticed till now but my tortion bar is freakin huge!!!
You can siphon it out with a siphon gun. It looks like a grease gun without the pump lever.
Top off the rearend. Then, jack up the opposite side that you replaced the seal on as far as you can go and let the oil run down into the hub. Then let it back down and recheck the level.
