I have a 2002 Ford Ranger FX4 without a spot of rust, in very good condition, but the other day we had a pretty hard rain storm and the next day I was driving to the store and I heard water sloshing around and could not figure where the heck it was coming from. Well when I stopped it turned the inside of my drivers side door was literally filled 3.4 of the way up with rain water. I cant for the life of me during the rain? In case you think someone pulled a fast one on me ( i know I sure was wondering) 2 weeks later we had another hard rain and sure enough the door was half full with water. Any ideas how this is happening?
I still haven't fixed the rust issue yet. I got new reproduction rockers and was thinking about just cutting the lip that stands up for the gasket off and modifying the new rockers to lay on top of the orignal. I was going to trim them some. This way I will have a place for the gasket to go. Is this a bad idea?

That pinch weld (flange) that the gasket slips on to adds a lot of stiffness to the rocker of your truck, and remember you step right there every time you get in or out of your truck.
I think it might be a better plan to just drill some holes in it to let the water through like I did.
(edit) I just realized I said that in my earlier post...
Time for the coffee to kick in.
