Thinking about ordering a '08? Time is running out...

Just a little information to pass along to those who are on the fence...

The '08 SD order bank closes on 04/07/08.

The '09 SD order bank opens on 05/16/08.

Also note...

F-250 and F-350 SRW's with 6.4L PSD, 5-Spd Auto and 17" or 18" wheels can no longer be optioned with 3.73 axle ratio. 3.55 is standard and 3.55 L/S is optional. 3.55 L/S is standard on FX4.

3.73 L/S is still standard on trucks equipped with 20" wheels and/or 6-Spd Manual.

As of 02/15/08 the following colors can no longer be ordered for '08.

DK Toreador Red
DK Shadow Grey

1) Do you know what colors will be added for 09?

2) Are the 3.55 with 18" equil to the 3.73 with 20"( Let's say you are traveling at 60 mph what would the RPM'S be for the 3.55 & 3.73 would they about the same. } The reason I'm asking is I will be ready to buy a new truck in Oct.and I don't know what rear will be right for me. I tow a dump trailer GVW,12000,Snowmobile trailer GVW.3000, Car trailer GVW.7000, 5th wheel GVW,14500. Any info. on these 2 questions will be appreciated.THANK YOU.

No I think the tires are the same od. The rpms would be the same for both tires.

If 5/16/09 is going to be the start of the ordering then I have to wonder when they will have it on their web site to show us the changes and new options.

Your thinking is correct. Tires used on 20" wheels are approximately 1" taller, so 3.73's with 20" wheels and tires will have nearly the same effective ratio as 3.55's and 18" wheels and tires.

3.55's will have no problems handling the trailers that you want to pull.

As for what is to come for the 09's, unfortunately I can not divulge that information at this time. I also do not expect that much information will be released before 05/16/08. All I can say is not to expect too much...

UPDATE....

It appears as of 03/01 that 3.73 L/S is once again a available option on F-250 and F-350 SRW's when equipped with 6.4L, 5-Spd Auto and 17" or 18" wheels.

CORRECTION...

I have found out that the '08 order bank closing date posted above is for fleet orders and would not apply to most folks here. I apologize for the error...

Here is the most current and correct information...

'08 SD order bank closes (last day to order) on 05/30/08.
Last day to change or cancel a '08 SD order is 05/23/08.
Last day of '08 SD production is 07/03/08.

The 275/70/18 are approx 33" tall and the 275/60/20 are 34.1" tall. So the RPM's on the highway should be about the same RPM.

Everything I have seen shows '09 ordering starts on 05/16 and '08 ordering ends on 05/30. So it looks like there will be a 2 week period where you could order either.
