Naw--I have in front of me the New Air Force times. It is dated Feb 18th 2008 and on page 39 & it states that it will be out in the fall of this year with a base price of $22,000.
I just went to the web site for you to read the article. The web site doesn't have as much about it as the paper so here it is anyway.

2009 VW Microbus
Base price: $22,000
Availability estimate: Fall
A legend returns!
VW has decided the times are once again ripe for a reasonably sized, good-on-gas, family-friendly and road-trip-ready icon.
While the cosmetics and overall theme hark back to the hippie-era Microbus, one thing the modern Microbus won’t have in common with the original is a bad case of the slows.
Expect the ’09 Microbus to be at least as quick as other modern seven-passenger vans — and (it is hoped) available with a diesel engine.
A diesel Microbus would offer much better fuel economy potential than any gas-powered van on the market — and be very much in tune with the Earth Mother, eco-friendly vibe of the original Microbus.
Also look for possible retro-inspired accessories such as on-board minikitchens with sink, water and fridge.
Maybe a camper top will make a reappearance, too.
We'll have to bust up the VW emblem into the peace sign again.........
VW put the rabbit diesel in an 83 (I think it was 83) Vanagon, and seems to me it got about 15 mpg city and highway, which one of the reviewers said meant you drove with your foot on the floor wherever you went. The same fellow said the torque was so low it wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding.
I'd love to have another VW bus, but I would be leary of anything automotive that Chrysler was involved in.
Times and people have changed. The re-introduction of the beatle flopped big time, and the 2010 concept looks nothing like the original. I am betting this will be just as much of a flop here.
