aussie heads come from austrailia. they come off a 302c, thats right, they got a 302 and 351c motor. the aussie heads a 2v heads with closed chambers. the best of both worlds. you can pick them up on ebay a lot.

As one poster mentioned, the Aussie heads have the closed chambers. I have a set waiting to be rebuilt - and they should bump my current 9:1 compression 351CJ to 10.7:1. If I have the chambers polished, am careful on my cam selection, and run 92/93 octane fuel I should avoid detonation.

Besides the closed chamber design, the Aussie heads have the small valves and ports of the 2V US heads. For low-RPM power in a street vehicle, the small ports are what you want. The large ports of the 4V heads hurt you at low RPM, but help at 5000+ RPM. The problem is that on the 351, the large ports reduce the port velocity at lower RPM and it's only when you get revving that the port velocity comes up and you see some benefit. I presume that the 4V heads would do a bit better on the 400 since the increased displacement will bring up port velocity sooner in the RPM range.

Not sure on the valve size - I have not yet decided what to do there. Some have advised me to increase both to the larger 4V size, while others have advised just increasing the exhaust valve. I am still looking for that definitive answer from someone who has been there and done that. Anyway - they are the hot ticket for a Cleveland...

aussies headsand valves. aussies are 2v heads, so they come with 2v valves. pay the extra money and put in the 4v valves. way better airflow.
