Difference between '99 Powerstrokes
What is the difference between early '99 and late '99 Powerstroke? I found a truck built in Aug 98. When did the engine get updates to late '99 specs?
This truck has a V8 emblem on the front fender. Not what I was expecting for a Powerstroke. The VIN is a Powerstroke. Kind of a mystery to me.

the diffs in the motor bay are HPOP,injectors,PCM air intake and turbo..the cut off date for the early 99 is 12/7/98...the diffs in turbo can be seen in my exploded view link in my sig..every thing there painted orange is 99.5..

There are a lot of subtle differences on the early 99's including:
Smaller Turbo housing and no foil on intercooler tubes
15* HPOP instead of 17*
Smaller injectors
Wicked wheel in turbo stock
Different intake (though most have been updated)
Front U-bolts on 4x4 are square
4x4 track bar is one piece forged
There are other differences too that I can't remember right off, I found a good post on one of those "other" sites I can post up if you wish. As far as the location of the Powerstroke badge, that is probably the worst way to tell an early from a late. My 99 is an early and it has door badges, but the early early 99's had fender badges.
