CV Boot

how much am i expected to pay to have a boot replaced. and what if the mechanic i go to tells me the bearings need to be 'repacked.'

How many miles are on the truck? if alot id repack them, cant hurt.

the job isnt that hard to do even if you did it yourself. Not sure on the pricing, but any time you're that far into something, I always repack/grease everything in my way. Good p/m.

If it's an outer boot the axle will have to be removed, the inner boot removed, the cv joint removed just to get the outer boot off. So then you have the cost of an outer boot ($25 +/- and the band for the inner $???) There are no more split boots that I could find. Mine has 163K on it so I just replaced the complete shaft.
