Hi guys - just wondering - does anyone know where I can find more info on Ford factory PCM reflashes? I am a tech at a Mazda dealer and I had plugged my IDS scanner into my truck (2004 F150 5.4 Supercrew FX4) and found I had access to everything. I was able to access all the modules on the truck, retrieve my factory keyless entry door code, and even program new ignition keys. I even reprogrammed my PCM with the latest Ford factory updates! I know that Mazda uses the same diagnostic equipment as Ford and I'm surprised to see that I had access to Ford calibration files.
I may be wrong but I believe IDS will only install the latest calibration that is available for your truck. The latest calibration will have all of the updates in it.
I think your right for sure - that's the way it works for our Mazdas (B - trucks and Tributes) that are Ford platform based. I can tell what the calibrations are affecting through our bulletins. (ie. harsh shifting, throttle response or rough idling) I was just wondering if there was somewhere to look up these particular calibration files to see what problems they were correcting.
I've noticed that the truck runs smoother at idle and the throttle response is better. Overall a general improvement in the way the truck runs. I just would like to know what I've put in the PCM so that I can watch for any new problems or issues that may arise.
Other then looking up the old TSB's to see if there was a fix for a certain issue I don't think that info is available.
The last cal builds on the one before it and so on.
